Activities Supervisor/Volunteer Coordinator
Full Time (40 hours) hourly pay
Day Time Hours: 830am - 5pm, every other weekend and some evenings required
$18 - $23/hour
*Minimum 1 year experience working in an activity department in long term care setting
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Activity Director in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator or President/CEO, to assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests, and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. Additionally, this job will oversee the facility’s volunteer program in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed by the Activity Director.
Develops, promotes, and maintains a wide range of volunteer opportunities within Fahrney-Keedy.

Recruits, interviews, and places applicants for volunteer work.
|
Conducts and coordinates volunteer training and orientation including reviewing policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
|
Reviews written reports and observes work activities of volunteers to evaluate performance.
|
Confers with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest.
|
Organizes and participates in volunteer recognition week as well as other volunteer-centered programs.
|
Maintains accurate records and provides timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.
|
Assists in the planning of parties and encourages social communication among residents through group activities and recreation.
|
Assists in the organization and coordination of special outings and accompanies residents (i.e., ball games, sightseeing, picnics, shopping, etc.).
|
Assists in coordination and assignment of Activities Aides to implement and oversee group activities to ensure effective coverage.
Attends meetings representing the Activity Department as delegated by the Director of Activity.

Coordinates and distributes monthly activity calendars for both Skilled Nursing and Independent Living residents.
|
Provides one-on-one visits and activities with the residents.
|
Invites and encourages residents to participate in daily programs and works with residents with special needs and assistance.
|
Transports residents to and from activities.
|
Assists bed residents by visiting with them, reading, writing letters, doing crafts, projects, etc.
|
Makes routine visits to residents and assists them with crafts, projects, etc.
|
Encourages residents to develop their educational development through reading, games, etc.
|
Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout Fahrney-Keedy.
Assists in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the activity programs of Fahrney-Keedy.

Assists in the development, administration and coordination of department policies and procedures.
|
Keeps abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Activity Director.
|
Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures for the identification of medically related activity needs of the resident.
|
Participates in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family.
Interviews resident/families as necessary and in a private setting.
|
Involves the resident/family in planning activity programs when possible.
|
Performs administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Activity Director as required.
|
Provides consultation to members of our staff, community agencies, etc., in efforts to solve the needs and problems of the resident through the development of activity programs.
|
Reviews and evaluates the department’s work force and make recommendations to the Activity Director.
|
Coordinates activities with other departments as necessary.
|
Assists in reviewing and developing a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such report to the Activity Director.
|
Reviews departmental complaints and grievances from staff and make written reports to the Activity Director of action(s) taken.
|
Ensures that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident’s response to the service.
|
Involves the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the resident.
|
Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning activity programs.
|
Utilizes computer skills.
|
Acts as the department contact in the absence of the Activity Director.
|
Reviews and approves payroll using current Payroll System.
|
Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of staff for the Activity Department.
|
Assists in scheduling department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules, staff, work assignments, etc. to expedite work.
|
Assists in standardizing the methods in which activity programs will be performed and/or administered.Ensures that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screensaver activates within established facility policy guidelines.
